I stumbled across these unique double-layered socks a few years ago at the REI outfitter store and I've been hooked on Wrightsock double-layer socks ever since. Wrightsock has dozens of well-built sock options on their website for both warm and cold weather (I also love their lightweight wool socks for cycling!). This review is for the Double-Layered Running II Sock which I've purchased and repurchased for the last 10 years.

WrightSock's most unique factor are the two thin layers that make up the sock itself. This allows the inner layer to generally stay with your foot, and it leaves the outside layer to take the beating or any rubbing that your shoes may give you. With normal socks, it's up to your poor heel or toes to take that abuse, but somehow Wrightsock pulls off this complex design in a way that holds up great in the wash, that doesn't bunch at the toes and that stays put at the ankle right where you put it in the morning.

Highlights:

- Lightweight and durable: In years of washing, the socks still don't distort in the wash! I've had many socks I've loved just fall apart after years of rough washing on the road, but these hold up great and get even more comfortable over time.

- Well-fitting: The unique Double-Layer seems like it would be hard to pull off, but Wrightsock does it well. I have a size 12 foot and like my socks snug, so I opt for the Large and it works well for me.

- Comfortable and cool: The double layers wick away sweat from the feet without adding to the heat. They also stay put and don't crawl into your shoes on a run or on long days of walking.

Drawbacks:

- None to speak of beyond that the socks get better after a couple months of washing.
